I facilitated an art group once a week, worked individually with the clients on creative projects, and I organized and lead groups of clients on field trips, e.g., to art galleries, and to conduct outdoor painting and drawing exercises. In the process of working with clients on their individual projects I came to know them in a more in depth and meaningful way that gave me insight into what drives their creativity, but also what troubles them. It is this experience that drove my passion to become a therapist. Working as a therapist I found so much creativity in the work. I am always impressed by an individual’s ability to cope with difficulties and the unique way they position themselves in the world.
